Full Moon Gong Relaxation with Special Guest Instructor Carrie Evans

Full Moon Sound BAth Insta.jpg

We invite you to relax, reduce stress and heal with an ambient evening of sound healing.  Make yourself comfortable in an intimate setting while waves of angelic tones wash over you, rebalancing your glandular and nervous systems, relieving stress and fatigue & clearing energy blockages. The ancient gong is said to be the sound embodiment of all of consciousness and resonates with us down to a cellular level thereby renewing all body systems. You will release worries, anger & fears and step into a space of peace and greater well-being.

Offered by Joyspring special instructor Carrie Evans, 15 years ago after two traumatic losses, Carrie's practice with yoga & meditation took her through anxiety, depression and grief and brought her out on the other side.  It has turned her inside out and outside in, and continues to transform her. Every. Single. Day. After such awesome results, Carrie felt she had to share the unbelievable and innumerable benefits of yoga with others. Now a mother of 2 crazy, funny, beautiful, rowdy boys Carrie uses the tools yoga has given her with her own family. This has fueled her passion for empowering other families. And now she’s out spreading the yoga love. Because that’s what yoga truly is to Carrie, an expression of love. And she only hopes that she can spark a furious love of life, family, community, health & wellbeing in others.

Teen Yoga for Stress Relief

Yoga practices have many benefits to overall health and wellness, such as a reduction in stress levels, improved strength, flexibility and a calmer mind. Another bonus is learning how to respond purposefully rather than react rashly during almost any situation. Being a young adult in modern times can be very stimulating and intense at times.

Learning the practices of Yoga allows students to learn tools that will help each individually learn how to cope with daily-life stressors, as well as center, restore and be more present. This ability to become more conscious has the potential to assist teens during daily life, behavior choices, and overall body awareness and conditioning.

In class, students will learn Yoga postures, stress-relieving techniques such as breathing and centering and how to focus and calm the mind. All levels of Yoga experience are welcome, no previous knowledge is required.

This is a three week series running September 29th to October 13th

What is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga Therapy—or as we call it Yoga As Medicine— is the selective use of various yoga tools — such as poses, breathing techniques, relaxation exercises and meditation, as well as dietary and lifestyle advice — to help people with virtually any health condition, physical or psychological. Because people's health and fitness vary, we often modify poses or use props to make the practices safe and effective.  In Yoga As Medicine, we perform detailed holistic assessments of each client—evaluating body, mind, spirit and environment—and then craft a personalized yoga program. And that's precisely what we teach in our seminars and teacher trainings. Yoga therapy can be used by itself or as an adjunct to any conventional or alternative medical treatment.

Join Us for a very special training with guest instructor Dr. Timothy McCall. This is a five day training workshop. April 21st to April 25th

Restorative yoga is a deeply healing and therapeutic practice where all poses are supported by blankets and bolsters to give the body the space to heal in a gentle held space.

Combining the two is a wonderful practice that can help to restore the mind and release the deepest tension and strain in the body. This is an Open class, though space is limited to 6 participants, so please reserve your spot online or call the studio at 716-655-2060

Full Immersion Gong Bath Meditation

Full Immersion Gong Bath Meditation

What is a gong bath?

A gong bath is a meditative sonic experience, where the participant is "bathed" in sound waves from various gongs. The practice finds it's roots in ancient cultures and Kundalini yoga and is more recently used by sound healing practitioners. The participant can expect to be taken on a meditation journey enhanced and assisted by the frequencies of these ancient instruments. The experience will last roughly 45 minutes and led by Liz Holland, MM Percussion Performance.

Why Gongs?
As early as 4000 B.C., gongs have been used as spiritual tools to help guide meditation. A gong produces motions and vibrations that cause frequencies of difference ranges. Scientific studies have shown the therapeutic use of sound frequencies to benefit overall health and well-being. Immersion in a full gong bath takes the participant on a journey of meditation and self-healing.

This experience is led by Liz Holland, MM Percussion Performance.

About Liz

Liz Holland M.M., practitioner of Ancient Alloys, has been a percussionist for her entire life. She has performed in many capacities from classical to ethnic to rock and jazz, but has recently shifted her focus to the art of sound healing. Having studied the minimalist works of composers such as John Cage, she earned a Masters of Music in Percussion Performance from the University at Buffalo. She uses this training to compose improvised sonic atmospheres in the healing sessions, utilizing many classical and modern techniques of performing on gongs and other various metallic instruments.

Spring Yoga Cleanse with Erin

IMG_9429.JPG

Let's prepare for the coming of spring!

IMG_9564.JPG

In like a Lion out like a Lamb, March is a wonderful month to bring cleansing into our practice. As the length of daylight continues to grow and the Earth starts to stir, we can apply this freshness within our Yoga and meditation practices. With detoxifying breathing practices, warming and cleansing twisting postures and mind-clearing restoration, we will polish ourselves for the warmer months to come. It is a great time to allow the resources, rest and reflections of Winter to fuel the upcoming expansion of Spring.

As humans, we must remember that we too are a part of Nature, and practicing in alignment with the seasons can help our minds, bodies and spirits flow with both ease and vigor. Unveil your radiance! Each class will offer breathing practice, asanas (postures), meditation time and final relaxation. Some Yoga experience is recommended.
