Soothing Touch for Infants 1

Infant massage has been practiced for centuries and provides us with a way to soothe and comfort ourselves and our child. The healing benefits of touch are endless. A knowledge of effective techniques can result in better development, sleep, and a remedy for a variety of ailments such as colic. In today’s busy world setting aside this quiet time for you and your child can also help in the bonding process. This class provides the basic tools to practice soothing touch for infants for parents, grandparents, or caretakers.

What do students need to bring - Infants (newborn-crawling) napping or alert is fine. Not for premature infants if under 32 weeks. Participants may also bring a babydoll/stuffed animal if infant is not available to you. Blanket/swaddle to perform massage on and to swaddle baby following the massage. Jojoba oil or any other natural, cold-pressed oil. Mineral oils not recommended. May bring a pen if you’d like to take notes during the class.
